A Whole New World

"I think it's time to say goodbye to Prince Abooboo!" - Jafar

Finally coming to DVD, is the Disney animation classic Aladdin.

Next Tuesday, October 5, the film gets the 2 disk special edition treatment and a digital presentation. (meaning the film was scanned into the computer and most likely cleaned up, and the audio was enhanced)

This film has been a long time coming. Why Disney took so long to release it on DVD is unknown to me. It's obvious why they would postpone it until late in the year for the holiday season, but why the long wait?

Anyway, it is a great family film and Robin Williams all out steals the show, as expected. There are great computer animated effects, such as the flying carpet, and many of the buildings; there are lots of cool musical numbers (and I don't even like musical numbers), thrilling chases and escapes, and the comedic stylings of Gilbert Gottfried, although he is a little annoying as far as Gilbert Gottfried goes. Seeing as how his whole schtick is about annoyance, his performance fits right in.

p.s. Bass alert! Make sure to crank up the bass during the opening scene with the entrance to the Genie's cave: the Lion's Head makes a spectacular bass-rumbling speech! Make your insides rattle!
